Reiki 1 Certification in Paradise!

Amidst the lush forest of Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, on land featuring a beautiful cenote and indigenous birds, is the aptly named Casa Del Agua or “Water House.” It is in this magical place that I’ll be offering Reiki 1 Certification to participants.

What is Reiki? Reiki is an ancient form of energy healing that is accessible to everyone.  It has been scientifically proven to reduce stress, lower heart and respiration rates, calm anxiety, help insomnia, reduce pain and more.  In addition to scientific studies, practitioners have given testimony to the often “miraculous” outcomes of Reiki energy healing.

What is Level 1 Certification?  Level 1 Certification consists of course study work and actual energy attunements. Attunements are not the healing process, though participants should expect to feel subtle to gross energy movement within them during or after attunements.  Attunements are the method of sharing the Reiki from the Master Teacher to the student.  After receiving these attunements, the student is now able to channel Reiki energy on her/his own, acting as a Healing Facilitator, allowing Reiki to do the healing work. Level 1 Practitioners are able to use a hands-on method to channel Reiki for her/his own benefit (which is recommended as a daily practice).  Level 1 Practitioners may also channel Reiki to benefit other people, including babies, animals/pets, and, when ready, clients.

What is my investment? In my opinion, the biggest investments into the path of Reiki are openness, good intention, discipline, and consistent practice.  Reiki energy, like all healing energies, intensifies with consistency.  The financial investment into Level 1 Certification can range as high as $500 USD to as low as a Teacher will allow, based on circumstances.  The cost for this Level 1 Certification Course is $150.00 USD.  The duration of the course is 7 hours in-class and a minimum of 5 hours per week should be dedicated to your study and practice over the next 30 days.  This continued practice and study is the most efficient way to assure you are continuing to benefit from the beautiful and transformative energy that you are accessing.  The saying goes,

Reiki I will change you.

Reiki II will change your life.

Reiki III will change your world.

Course Details:

Friday, March 8, 2019 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, March 9, 2019 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Please come prepared for movement, sitting, and standing exercises as well as laying.  Please bring the following:

  • Yoga mat or similar
  • pillow for sitting for extended periods
  • towel
  • water and a healthy snack
  • writing materials (pens/pencils) and note taking materials- I recommend having a folder and notebook just for Reiki.
  • Dress in layers. It can become very hot when we are working with Reiki energy but your body may cool after, so it’s good to wear loose fitting light clothing and have something to add on in case you get chilly.  A tank top and shorts/skirt/loose pants are a good first layer.  Please try to abstain from wearing black.

Cost for entire course: $150 USD.  This does not include supplemental reading materials that will be recommended.

Please note: Reiki Certification requires a certain level of material and information to be shared.  We ask that you please arrive on time for each session and be open if we must stay a little beyond our time.  Full attendance on both days is a requirement for receiving the Certification.  Unfortunately, course fees can not be refunded or reduced for absence or lateness, even when this results in not receiving a Certification.  Thank you for your understanding.

On Love and Fear

September 27, 2018

This Monday, as I was preparing myself for the work I would be doing on the Heart Chakra for our Chama Yoga class, I became aware of the sound of my younger daughter’s voice as she was engaging with our cat, Koro.  Until then, my daughter has maintained a limited and fearful relationship with our recently adopted feline friend.  Every interaction between them since he’s joined our family two months ago has begun with her tentatively reaching her hand out to him, awkwardly petting his face and neck, which within moments causes the young tan and white Tabby to think it’s P.L.A.Y.T.I.M.E!!! (his excitement connoted here) and immediately commence to nibbling and scratching at her.  This invariably sets off her fear of being torn to shreds by the cat and she commences to shriek out panicked screams of “No, Koro! No!” followed by “MOMMY!!!” So, to hear her voice this time, not only calm, but actually soothing as she engaged with him, really caused me to pause.  Peeking into the room, I saw her sitting on the floor with him sprawled out in front of her folded legs as she rubbed his belly, engaging in the sweetest expressions.  She affirmed him, petted him, and even giggled as he purred!  It was a simple and common scene, but for this child of mine, it was a magnificent first.  In that moment, I realized, she was no longer afraid and therefore she was able to tap in to her loving presence

It’s funny how the simplest things help guide us to such important messages.

Inevitably, I found myself pondering the nature of this practice in my every day experiences and in the experiences we (insert any way we identify) find ourselves.

I asked myself, How often is our ability to be loving hindered by our fears?  Continue reading “On Love and Fear”
